Until 2002, St Albans was the furthest electric trains could travel on the Echuca Line. Since the electrification to Watergardens few suburban trains now terminate at St Albans. The station is quite unique in that it has 4 platforms, 3 on the UP side of Main Road and 1 disused platform on the DOWN side. The disused platform was formerly used by some country passenger services.
