The former Ballarat East Station was located only a short distance on the Up side of the main Ballarat Station, located imediately on The Up side of the Humffray Street level crossing.
Although no station buildings existing, a platform is still located on the Up side of the line. Opposite the platform is the former Ballarat East workshops which were recently occupied by West Coast Railways and are still used to store some old redundant rollingstock. A large bluestone building exists on the workshop site which also contains a turntable. A pedestrian overpass exists at the Up end of the station.
A large signal box remains on the Down side of the Humffray Street level crossing at the Down end of the station.
