Skipton Line

The Skipton Line was originally constructed to serve an expected gold mining boom, however over the life of the railway its main haulage was pastoral goods. The Line also provided a passenger service which continued until the late 1970s. In particular there was a service for school children to Ballarat. Freight continued on the line in particular from an industrial plant at Pittong until the mid 1980s when the whole line was eventually closed. The line is now slowly being converted into a Rail Trail.
