The former railway station has long been removed from Merbein.
Today the former station site is now occupied by the Ironhorse Intermodal Terminal which is a container terminal which serves the rail freight needs for fresh produce from the Sunraysia region. Regular freight trains transport container freight from this depot to the ports.
